This position is an individual contributor role responsible for identifying opportunities for improvement in the Bank's internal small business customer identification and linking logic, and to work as part of a cross-functional team to implement those improvements in support of the US Small Business Card credit risk strategies.



Key functions include the ongoing development, improvement and maintenance of algorithms that enable accurate and complete identification of a current or prospective customer's existing bank relationships based on data available at the time of credit decisioning. This position will require the successful candidate to quickly become a subject matter expert on multiple business-related and technical-related topics, and to independently drive strategic improvements.



This role is responsible for performing complex analysis aimed at improving portfolio risk, profitability, performance forecasting and operational performance for small business credit cards. While this position has no direct people management responsibilities, it does require the ability to interact with business partners both within and external to the department. The successful candidate will have proven technical skills and a sound knowledge of SAS / SQL, financial statements, and business processes related to credit card originations.


The successful candidate will demonstrate a thorough understanding of methods, systems, and technologies used to control risk, with emphasis on methods and technologies that rationalize and consolidate disparate pieces of customer relationships into a unified whole. The successful candidate will be proactive and will actively engage various business partners to seek out and identify improvements to relationship linking logic on an ongoing basis. 

Qualifications


Required Skills:

- Able to collaborate, manage and expand relationships across the organization.
- Must be equally at ease when collaborating with peers, technical partners, non-technical partners, or senior management.
- Previous exposure to consumer or small business lending.
- Keen analytic mind with proven problem solving skills.
- 1+ years SAS, Excel, and SQL experience.
- Experience extracting information by querying large relational databases; preferably with detailed knowledge of SAS and SQL in a DB2 and/or Teradata environment.
- Bachelor's degree in mathematics, computer science, engineering, or a related quantitative discipline is require

Desired Skills:

- Master's degree or Ph.D preferred.
- 3+ years SAS and SQL experience preferred.
- "Big data" data mining and modeling experience preferred.
- Previous experience in financial services preferred.
- Previous experience in developing credit risk strategies preferred
